Main differences between lube oil used in crankcase for 4-stroke and 2-stroke engines.

4-stroke oil will have a higher "TBN" value. since there is no separation between the cylinder space and the crank space in trunk type engines the blow past process can easily contaminate the oil and make it acidic.

 TBN value represents the oils basic character.

    2 stroke has highr tbn 70 mg/koh and 4 stroke has 30 mg/koh!
